Spring Arrivals!

Every spring, local birders anticipate the arrival of early spring migrants indicating warmer times ahead. We recently had been spoilt by some fine warm spring days and to be honest, migration has been taking its time to get going.

This week has seen a change in the weather and as a result a few birds have been grounded along the South Downs coastline. The bird I most look forward to see is the Northern Wheatear, especially the male birds with their bright colours and character always rise the spirits! We were fortunate to have some locally this week along with a female Ring Ouzel, normally a autumn speciality here, but the odd spring record is always welcome. Over the coming weeks, more of our summer visitors will arrive, if you manage to get out over the coming weeks we would be delighted to hear what you have been seeing!
