Raptor migration

Fine days with a gentle breeze along the coast present good raptor watching opportunities on the Sussex coast. A hunch came good today with this juvenile pale morph Honey Buzzard tracking east over Hastings just before noon. This bird will be bound for wintering grounds in tropical and southern Africa.

The watch also featured this Marsh Harrier tracking the coast. It's a good time to look for migrant raptors! Smaller birds were on the move too, with Yellow Wagtails, Swallows and Sand Martins trickling through
