As birders and wildlife-watchers we often rave about the benefits of getting up early to see the best stuff, but evenings can provide some of the most magical experiences. This Barn Owl was hunting over a wet meadow in the South Downs on a beautiful, calm evening last week. It caught a vole then took it off, presumably to a nest full of hungry owlets.
